Well Pride was last weekend and I had a good time. I think Mark had a real good time too. We both had to worked the first night of Pride so it was really good that we got to go blow off some steam and have fun with our peers. Mark invited a few people from his work to go with us on Friday night and Saturday. I invited a good friend of mines wife since he is out of the country defended our very basic rights. I also invited Ki and the gang but I guess not everyone got the word.
So Friday it was Mark, Malia, Xam (Sam for the Americans) and myself. We got there, checked out a few booths and then settled in for the evening with some food. After we had our food it was time to drink, Xam and I drank beers, while Malia and Mark were hitting up the hard stuff.
Our entertainment was a goth/emo/metal band (I forgot their name, but if they have a CD I want it), the usual Drag shows (there are two queens I can remember seeing but I forgot their names), Christine O’leary (hilarious women, I would love to just spend a weekend being her groupie), Guy B (great performer, I loved the dancers too), then a DJ spun some tunes while poppers and lockers were doing their thing on stage. One thing I like about the Friday night celebration is people of all walks of life coming together to enjoy each other company.
The dancers with Guy B were wearing these awesome comfy pants that their manager makes. We won a pair during an auction for the Gay American Heroes campaign members of the GLBT community that were killed for being who they are. GAH is a charity to help raise awareness for the GLBT members that have been killed as a result of hate crimes.
So on Saturday, it was kinda different. We had some different people from Mark’s work with us for the parade and festivities. It got so bloody hot that we left the area about 3pm and returned right as the storm of the weekend hit the celebration. We waited around for about 30 minutes to see what was going on, I still wanted to see Christine again but we were both very sunburned and tired after the heatwave we had.
I have 300+ pictures from this years events that Mark and I are still going through. Once I get them up you will be able to see them in the gallery (link on the side bar).
Until my next post, ttyl.
